The agreement
These terms govern your purchase and use of PSI software, including Grinder. By purchasing a license or using the software, you agree to them. If you are purchasing on behalf of an institution or lab, you confirm you are authorized to bind that institution.
License
PSI grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software for research, academic, and professional purposes, subject to your purchased tier:
- Free — for evaluation and non-commercial research, with the feature limits published on the product page.
- Academic — annual subscription; full features while the subscription is active; for use by the licensed individual.
- Professional — perpetual license for the current major version, activatable on up to 3 devices used by the licensed individual.
You may not resell, rent, sublicense, or share your license key, nor circumvent license validation. Licenses are per individual; labs and institutions should contact us for multi-seat arrangements.
Payment
All purchases are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. This means Paddle is the seller of your order: it handles billing, collects applicable taxes (including VAT/GST), issues receipts, and appears on your card statement. Prices are listed in USD on the product page; Paddle may present local currency at checkout. Your order is also subject to Paddle's buyer terms.
Refund policy
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on every purchase, no questions asked:
- One-time (Professional) purchases: refundable within 14 days of purchase.
- Subscriptions (Academic): the initial payment is refundable within 14 days; renewal payments are refundable within 14 days of the renewal charge.
- Refunds are issued by Paddle to the original payment method. Request one by emailing hello@psi-agent.dev with your order email or receipt.
After a refund, the associated license is deactivated. Where the refunded item was a credit top-up, the credits from that specific purchase are deducted from your balance. Credits already spent are not charged back; your balance is reduced to zero rather than going negative. The Free tier costs nothing and is not refundable — it is free. See our full Refund Policy.
Cloud credits
Credits measure usage of Grinder's cloud-assisted processing. One credit is one minute of audio. One minute of cloud transcription spends one credit; one minute of automated detection spends 0.75 credits.
- Credits never expire and accumulate. Credits included with a plan each billing period, credits from a top-up, and credits from daily check-ins all share one balance.
- Unused credits remain on your account after a plan ends or is cancelled. Cancelling a plan does not remove credits you already have.
- Plan discounts apply only while that plan is active. After a plan ends, top-up pricing returns to the list rate.
- Daily check-in grants credits; check-in is not available every day, and we may change the amount or frequency.
Acceptable use
Use the software lawfully. Do not use it to process data you have no right to process, do not misrepresent its output as human-generated annotation where disclosure is required, and do not reverse engineer the software except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
Intellectual property
The software, this website, and all associated materials remain the property of PSI. Your research data and the outputs you generate with the software (transcripts, TextGrids, measurements) are yours — we claim no rights over them.
No warranty
The software is provided "as is." While we accuracy-check every release against our gold-standard test corpus, we make no guarantee that results are error-free for every recording condition, language, or speaker profile. If you find a systematic error, please report it — we treat bugs as the most urgent kind of support ticket.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PSI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of the use of the software, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the software in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate a license only for material breach of these terms (such as key sharing or resale). On termination you must stop using the software; clauses on liability, warranty, and governing law survive.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always posted on this page with its date. Material changes are notified to paying customers by email at least 14 days before taking effect; continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, a jurisdiction chosen for its compatibility with both international and mainland Chinese customers. Any disputes shall be resolved through arbitration in Hong Kong under the rules of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.
